Design website for linguistics teacher & content creator
WEBSITE
A simple 3-page website format including a linear overview of private lessons offered in Latin, Spanish, Italian, and general Phonology, and an integrated Calendly booking form for lessons. The goal was to direct leads generated from Turrigiano's youtube channel toward booking private lessons, and to unify Turrigiano's linguistic practice as a content creator and teacher.
DESIGN
Part of the study of linguistics is the way language evolves over extensive periods of time. For the design, I was interested in building a look that is expressive of learning from the past to inform the present; old and new, antique and contemporary. As a result, I sourced Italian and Spanish stereographs taken between 1880 and 1910, paired with contemporary photos of Italy and Spain to advertise lessons in Spanish, Latin and Italian.
For the palette: cream, blue, sepia and yellow-orange as an accent color.
For the typography: a serif that reminded me of J.R.R. Tolkien's font for The Hobbit as headings and titles, and a sans serif for the body text.
